May 20, 2022 By Flor Caballero Lynch

Spending time with the family is never time lost, and that’s why it’s always a good thing to find activities that maximize the amount of time you all get to spend with each other! Although summer activities can be a little tricky to navigate with the constant heat and the sporadic downpours of rain, there are still many activities that can be fun for all!

Riding bicycles on bicycle trails is another great activity to do with your family—as long as everyone is old enough to ride! There are many local bicycle trails all around the country, a quick internet search will help you find ones around you! Be sure to wear a helmet too!

What’s the Difference Between Personal Auto Insurance and Commercial Insurance?

May 18, 2022 By Flor Caballero Lynch

You might be sitting there on your phone reading this blog post thinking “I don’t own a fleet of vehicles,

drive commercially, or even own a business at all—why do I need to think about this?”, and while it is easy to think that, if you drive at all for your job you need to really look into whether or not you are in need for commercial insurance or not!

Personal Auto Insurance policies usually won’t pay to repair damage or help you pay for medical bills if you were using your vehicle to transport people or goods for money! If you use your personal truck to deliver a finished product to client’s house or even regularly travel to client’s homes for work you might need to obtain Commercial Auto Insurance! There is much higher liability risks involved when a company vehicle is involved in an accident and insurance companies take this into account when dealing with a Commercial Auto Policy!

Commuting to a job is one thing, but if you regularly bring tools and heavy equipment with you then it becomes a whole different ballgame! The supplies that are usually hauled in these situations are expensive to replace (Like a contraction worker who loads their pick-up truck bed and trailer with equipment to take to a site), and as such will probably need to have a commercial coverage that can cover the equipment in-case of damage in an accident or theft!

Ways To Help Relax After Work!

May 13, 2022 By Flor Caballero Lynch

After some days at work, it can be hard just to wind down and relax—but luckily here are a few things that you can try to help yourself relax after work!

Each day when you reach a good finishing point for the day, whether it be your current assignment, project, or it’s simply 5:00—find a way to make a ceremony of “closing up shop”! Whether it be organizing your workspace, turning off your work computer, or change out of your work shoes, make it a point to do so every single time—and make it final! By doing this you will help yourself unwind after just about any kind of day!

This ties into the last tip, but you should consider unplugging your devices—as well as yourself from the digital world! This helps clear your mind, and helps you get ready to just relax! With some professions this might not be possible, but if you can do it you might want to give it a whirl!

Cooking a healthy meal is one of the best ways to unwind after a stressful day at work, whether it be work from home or otherwise! As most of us have probably experienced, when you have a great lunch while at work it can be hard to want to go back since you were able to disconnect in order to eat! By doing this at the end of the day it can help you achieve the same kind of disconnect, but at a more appropriate time—after work! Find a good recipe and help yourself wind down, both you and your stomach will be thankful afterwards!

Home Warranty vs Home Insurance: What Are They?

May 11, 2022 By Flor Caballero Lynch

Home warranties and home insurance both cover different issues with your home, but there are big

differences between the two that should be addressed! Home Insurance covers your home and the things in it if something happened like a fire, theft, or an accident! But for things like a refrigerator that goes out, or your water heater not working anymore, then something like a home warranty would comes in handy!

One great thing about Home Insurance is depending on your coverage, you can also cover your home for things like flood, theft, and acts of God, with add-ons called “riders”—and it all depends on how much you want to protect your home with!

Think of Home Warranty as something that helps when an appliance that came with the house goes out and you use it to get a replacement! You should also see Home Insurance as something that helps when your home is damaged by fire, a broken pipe in your wall, or something of that nature! Both can be very useful, but there is a big difference between the two that should not be confused!

Lowering Your Bills: Auto Insurance Edition

May 6, 2022 By Flor Caballero Lynch

“How can I lower my car insurance payment?” This is a common question that we all have probably had

when staring at your car insurance bill wondering why it’s so high. Good news is, there are many different practices that you can do to lower your premiums all on your own—but keep in mind they do take time!

The most obvious one, but one some do forget would be to just drive safely!Driving safe saves you money in two ways: it prevents you from getting traffic tickets that cost a lot, and it lowers your premiums over time! By keeping a clean driving record you can qualify for lower rates and will smile when you see how low it can go when you just simply: drive safe!

Another way you can lower your rate is by always maintaining your coverage, with no late payments. Also, being late with payments may cause a lapse in coverage too! Another way to help save money is to ask for the option to pay your yearly premium in full at the beginning of your policy! This is almost like a bulk discount when you buy more than 5 at the store—and this goes a long way with saving you money with your premiums!

How To Drive Safer In The Rain!

May 4, 2022 By Flor Caballero Lynch

Did you know that almost half of all accidents that occur in the U.S. are due to the rain? The U.S. Department of Transportation states that over 700,000 accidents per year are caused by the rain, and the number is continually going up due to more and more drivers being on the road each and every year! As all of us will experience rain in our driving careers more times than we’d like, it’s important to know a few things that will decrease your chances at getting into a rain-related accident!

The first and best thing you can do is to slow down! When it is raining, just drive with care for your life and slow down in the rain!

The next tip is something that a lot of drivers forget about in the rain: Increase the distance you follow other cars with! Normally in dry weather you want to be 3 car lengths behind the driver in front of you, but when it’s raining, and especially if you are on a highway—make that gap bigger so you can give yourself more room to brake! Hydroplaning is the main cause of wrecks in the rain, and if you slam on the brakes due to being too close to another driver you might end up in an accident! Remember that accidents on the road can happen in a blink of an eye—help give yourself more distance to avoid them!

This next tip is a very useful one: Do not use cruise control in the rain! The cruise control computer on most cars will not be able to tell if it is raining and might cause your car to accelerate when caught in a hydroplane! If you find yourself in a hydroplane movement, just let off the gas and pump the brakes until you gain back control!

The best tip besides driving slower, is to just exercise caution when it is raining! And if at all possible, try to avoid driving in the rain if you can! Getting into an accident just is not worth it!

I’m Not At Fault, Do I Need To Call My Trucking Insurance Company?

April 29, 2022 By Flor Caballero Lynch

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-16-1024x682.pngA big myth is that if you are not at fault you don’t call your insurance company to save yourself from paying more, and this cannot be further from the truth! You should always contact your insurance company if you are in an accident, no matter who is at fault or what happened—they will eventually find out, and you can be missing out on coverage you paid for!

This rings even more true for those in the transport industry. If you do not notify your carrier, you might lose out on benefits that your coverage provides since at that point your provider can deny coverage if they find out you did not report an accident! Some of these valuable benefits can include covering towing (Which is extremely expensive if you are a truck driver), daily storage fees if your truck sits for a few days before getting repaired, any type of medical coverage you are entitled to, and coverage for repairs you might have to do to get on the road sooner instead of waiting for the other driver’s insurance to pay out the repair shop!

Remember this: only when your broker is given the right information can he or she get you the best coverage with the right carrier! Imagine you are wanting to leave town and you find a travel agent that can help find a destination for your vacation, you wouldn’t just call your agent and say, “Hey, send me to the cheapest place anywhere in the world; I don’t care where it is.”

First of all you’ll end up in a pretty bad place and you probably wouldn’t enjoy not knowing where you’re going! It’s pretty much the same with insurance providers and coverages—the coverages and services you want, and which insurance provider can provide them will depend on your company! For example: are you running a long-haul or local operation? Insurers may specialize in one or the other, even if they happen to sell policies to both types of operations! What kind of cargo are you hauling? It all depends on what you answer!

There are many different types of coverages that come with a good trucking insurance plan, be sure to ask your agent what can be done and what is available to you just in case you need it!

Home Safety Tips For Spring & Beyond!

April 27, 2022 By Flor Caballero Lynch

White, Outdoor, Patio, Furniture, Table, Two, ChairsWith the birds chirping, flowers bursting, and the bees buzzing, we can see that Springtime is here once again! After each winter it’s always great to check on your home to make sure that it is safe for you and your family going into the hotter months! Here is a list of things you can do to help make your house safer this Spring!

Clean Your Dryer’s Air Outlet!

This might require you to hire a professional to do so, but this can literally save your home from a damaging fire! The hot air outlet that your dryer is connected to sometimes can get clogged by debris and lint, of which is extremely flammable! You can get a lint-snake to push through the lint and pull it back out—or like I mentioned earlier, have a professional do it. But be sure to check this crucial area of your home at least every spring!

Check All Emergency Detectors!

While it is important to check your carbon monoxide detectors in the winter due to your heater being used, it’s great to check all of them, including fire and radon detectors to make sure that if anything does happen you are given warning! Also, be sure to check your fire extinguisher!

Inspect for Mold!

When the weather gets warmer, mold likes to spread a lot faster than normal—always check your house for mold in the spring, and if you see mold you can spray some bleach cleaner onto it to get rid of it! Mold can cause respiratory issues, even in a healthy person, so it is best to always keep your eye out for it!
